Members of the DCC Executive Team recently attended the Queensland International Women’s Day Parliamentary Breakfast, joining people from across government, the community sector and the wider community to recognise International Women’s Day.
The breakfast provided an opportunity to come together, connect and acknowledge the contribution women make across Queensland — within workplaces, communities, families and the sectors that support them.
Recognising the Women Across DCC
International Women’s Day is an important opportunity to recognise the achievements and contributions of women, while continuing conversations about equality, opportunity and representation.
Across DCC, women are an important part of our organisation at every level. They work across frontline services, leadership, administration, clinical services and operational teams, contributing every day to the support provided to children, young people, families and communities.
For DCC, recognising International Women’s Day is also an opportunity to acknowledge the experience, knowledge and leadership women bring to the human services sector.
Creating Opportunities to Lead
Building an inclusive workplace is about creating an environment where people feel valued, supported and able to contribute.
DCC remains committed to building a workplace and service system where women are supported, valued and able to lead at every level.
That includes recognising the different perspectives people bring to our organisation, creating opportunities for professional growth and ensuring women have opportunities to contribute to decision-making and leadership.
Connecting Across Our Sector
Events such as the Queensland International Women’s Day Parliamentary Breakfast also provide an opportunity to step outside our day-to-day work and connect with people across government, community organisations and other sectors.
Those connections create space to share experiences, hear different perspectives and continue conversations about how workplaces and communities can support greater inclusion and opportunity.
For members of the DCC Executive Team, attending the breakfast was an opportunity to be part of that broader conversation while representing an organisation whose work is centred around people and communities across Queensland.
Celebrating International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day gives us an opportunity to recognise progress while continuing to look at what we can do within our own workplaces and communities.
We are proud to recognise the many women across DCC who contribute their skills, experience, leadership and care every day, as well as women throughout the communities and sectors we work alongside.
